Louis Oosthuizen – Going into the Masters Louis Oosthuizen is available with some bookies at odds of around 35-40/1 and this looks like a great bet, if such a thing exists, given his form and his past efforts at Augusta. The 60-1 odds creates a potential high payout if Oosthuizen lives up to expectations, while 9-1 to finish in the top 10 features a lot of upside. Best Longshot: Si Woo Kim (+20000) 5 of 5. The Masters is the first golf major of the year and is held at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. This year’s tournament will be the 84th edition of the Masters. The Masters is the only major that is held on the same course every year. Since 1949, the winner of the Masters has received a green jacket.
I may well end up looking a little silly if they all go on to miss the cut at the Masters, but here goes nothing…
I think the leading lights in South African golf could be the men to back this year at Augusta National, and below I will try to explain why your loose change might be well assigned to this talented trio.
Louis Oosthuizen –
Going into the Masters Louis Oosthuizen is available with some bookies at odds of around 35-40/1 and this looks like a great bet, if such a thing exists, given his form and his past efforts at Augusta.
In 2012 it was only Bubba Watson’s mind-boggling hook out of the trees at 10 that came between Louis and a first green jacket, so it’s clear that he has the game to win at Augusta and Oosthuizen is also going into this year’s tournament in great form.
He recently triumphed at the European Tour’s ISPS HANDA Perth International, he came runner-up to the red hot Jason Day at the WGC-Dell Match Play two weeks ago and last year he came very, very close to winning back-to-back Open Championships at St Andrews. If all of the above doesn’t make him a decent shout then I don’t know what does…
Charl Schwartzel –
The 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel is available at a puzzling 45-50/1 with some bookies as it stands, making his another name that leaps off the odds-sheet.
The smooth swinging green jacket owner already has three wins this season, two of which came on home turf in South Africa in European Tour events and the other of which came at the Valspar Championship, his first win on American soil since his Masters triumph.
He’s clearly in great form, he has experience of winning at Augusta National, and his recent PGA TOUR victory will give him great confidence that he has what it takes to defeat the biggest names in the game on a demanding American track. He is well worth consideration.
Branden Grace –
He may have missed the cut at the Masters the past two years, but Branden Grace is a totally different proposition these days. Last year he came painfully close to a first major triumph in the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, before finishing inside the top 20 at The Open and then achieving his highest finish (3rd) in a major to date at the PGA Championship.
He is still currently available at odds of up to 80/1 prior to his first round getting under way, and these are very generous when taking into account his major record in 2015, his recent win at the European Tour’s Qatar Masters, and the fact that he is currently ranked 13th in the world!
I wouldn’t necessarily go ‘on the nose’ with Branden, but he is well worth an each-way punt.
***Please Note*** I remove myself of all responsibility when it comes to your potential losses this week, but take all credit for your potential winnings.
